Is the movie worth watching..? Answer seems to be no, when I search online...but I'm not sure why this is peaking my interest so much

Mine is currently expired but I'll be moving states soon and don't feel like paying. Especially since the costs will be much cheaper in the new state I'm going to...

Socially liberal but fiscally conservative means supporting broader access to higher education but also acknowledging that just asking the government to foot the bill doesn't resolve the issue of tuition spiraling out of control. It means increasing access to affordable housing but doing so nationwide rather than just trying to jam everybody into the bay area via rent control. It means wishing for broader access to healthcare but recognizing that the US spends like four times as much on healthcare per person than the rest of the world and unless you explicitly address that simply throwing more money at the problem doesn't fix anything.

Basically, it means having a desire to improve society but recognizing that the default position of "just increase taxes and throw money at the problem" is rarely the actual solution and addressing inefficiencies in the current system can be just as, if not more effective then the alternatives.

I would think that if someone is fiscally conservative, if it was shown that more money actually was needed to fix the problem, they would still say no, due to the increase in government spending.

300-400 for 2 people for groceries. I don't really eat out much, so that's mainly it.

There was a time, not long ago, when the old lady on the third floor would watch everyone's kids, for enough to feed them and maybe some extra pocket money. Then, she was declared an "unlicensed daycare", possibly even arrested, and now everyone has to go halfway across town to a place that charges exorbitant rates.

The question is, would people go back to this model if it became legal. I'm sure a good amount would, but I don't know. Child safetyism seems to have increased over the years, for good and bad reasons, so I'd imagine it'd be hard to get people back to that mindset. For many, all those minimum worker requirements and extras are selling points.

Conspiracy theory stuff just seems big in fitness circles. Partly because of how hard it is to find good research on various fitness type things, people tend to end up doing their own research into these things. And it ultimately leads to people hyping up different supplements and methods that can seem kinda fishy.

Feels like part of it is that people who are accomplished from working out (or really many kinds goals), see themselves succeeding as proof anyone can do anything, and they extrapolate that mindset to other things. They lose a bit of humbleness.

They've gone through a journey in which their hard work was needed and they succeeded. So if people aren't successful in other things, they must be "soy boys" or whatever.

Obviously this is a generalization but I think it's some of it. So I don't think it's really about being conservative, but they are more willing to agree with more ideas that are about individualistic accomplishments, libertarianism, etc. And forgetting about the nuances involved in..well life

A full 10mg knocks me out so I always eat them by the quarter of by half

Also, did you usually take your blood pressure regularly before? Or did something cause you to check your blood pressure?

I'd say since late last year. I recently got a blood pressure machine for my partner and I'd occasionally take mine as well.

Prior to this, I took it when my company would have those yearly health screening stuff and they'd check your vitals and give flu shot and stuff.

Nothing new except for what I mentioned in the original post.

Which is kinda weird cause it's always been low. I mean the past couple years I have decreased my physical activity. Been hard to really get a good consistent workout schedule due to covid, gym closure, stopped playing soccer 2-3 times a week, etc.

But I still generally tried to hit the gym a couple times a week and go for a jog semi often. I don't know. I'd still consider myself more active than most people...

And I don't think my diet has changed all that much.

I kinda keep hoping it's just a small anomaly and it'll work itself out....

Yeah, the smell isn't the best. Honestly, I'm just bad at smoking it. It hurts my lungs too much, even if I use a vape.

I can only do edibles, but I much prefer the high from smoking it

"Free speech" is just one of the many buzzwords for many on the right. They will never argue in good faith. Besides, you don't see them complaining about free speech being trampled on or cancellation when they "cancel" people they don't like.

Being called out on or being made responsible for their negative actions is seen as persecution.

It's a rhetorical tool as far as I'm concerned. Very few people are actually free speech absolutists. People just disagree on where the line should be drawn.

Phrasing your arguments by saying you're for people people being "free" to speak, makes your criticism/argument sound more persuasive though.

Free discourse means there will be at least some misinformation and things I dont agree with out there. That to me is preferable than anyone acting as the arbiters of what is and isnt the truth.

And that's fully fine. But that leads back to my original question, how should criticism work? Should all these people just add a disclaimer to their criticism saying "but don't remove Joe Rogan podcast"

Honestly, I think my annoyance comes from those who criticize the "boycotters" using free speech rhetoric.

Ultimately it's really just a matter of what we each think should be socially acceptable.

I just wish people would admit that's the argument.

But it annoys me because people keep arguing against Rogan criticism from a principled free speech rhetoric of no one being allowed to even imply that a company should remove someone..but we know that's not true. They just don't think THIS issue is worthy of a removal. There are many other criticism and boycotts that they would support.

Regarding how some people are pulling music or unsubscribing from Spotify. For those against doing that, is it that they think this specific issue isn't worthy of pulling music or unsubscribing? Or is it that they think doing it in a way that could be seen as an ultimatum, is bad/"censorship"?

I don't like that he obviously has played (in my opinion) a role in spreading some anti-vax rhetoric. And I'm not going to minimize what that might mean for those whose family members have been impacted by that. I personally wouldn't boycott Spotify or anything like that, but I really have no issue with others wanting to.

But like... people boycott airlines or shopping at various grocery stores for the most miniscule of reasons. If someone doesn't want to subscribe to a company paying Rogan, I really find it hard to see it as "canceling". It might not be the most efficient method of activism, but it's definitely not new or more petty than someone deciding not to shop at xyz store because 1 out of thousands of employees were rude to them one time.

Yep. I enjoy shopping they're I guess. I don't really get the hate for the experience.
